weeks - Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an
experienced RN for a NICU float position at a pediatric hospital in
Orange County, CA, requiring strong ICU skills and the ability to
float to PICU and general Pediatrics. Details - Home unit is a
22-bed Level III NICU with a patient population including preterm
infants as early as 22 weeks gestation, respiratory distress,
hyperbilirubinemia, IDM/poor feeders, failure to thrive, and
hypoglycemia - Consistent floating required to an 8-bed Level II
PICU (traumas, respiratory diagnoses, ingestions, surgical
patients) and a 24-bed general Pediatrics unit (med/surg, eating
disorder stabilization, and long-term EEG program) - Candidates
must be comfortable caring for patients up to 18 years of age
across all float units - Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts
(19:00–07:00) - 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling
block - Major holiday blocks are observed for scheduling purposes -
13-week contract with the possibility of extension Requirements -
Active CA RN license required - Current certifications required:
BLS, NRP, and PALS - Minimum 5 years of nursing experience with
solid ICU skills and strong NICU experience - Experience floating
to PICU and/or general Pediatrics is highly beneficial given the
nature of this role Additional Information - NICU care philosophy
emphasizes quiet developmental support for each infant - This is a
true float position — candidates should be comfortable and
clinically confident across NICU, PICU, and general Pediatrics
environments - Only one orientation cohort is offered per month;
the start date cannot be pushed back - First-time travelers will
not be considered for this position - Two professional references
are required for consideration - State Board of Nursing license
verification and NURSYS verification required for consideration
